Will downloading more iChat effects slow down my Mac?
I currently have all the basic applications, and I have iWork and LimeWire on my Mac. If I download more effects for PhotoBooth and iChat from the Apple website, will my computer slow down? I have a new MacBook Pro.
Downloading effects only uses up hard drive space. If your drive was nearly full that could slow your Mac down a bit but you probably wouldn’t notice.
Things that can slow your computer down will use up processor power or memory. The Activity Monitor will give you a good idea of what’s running and what it’s consuming. There’s a good article below on speeding up the startup of your Mac… it’s tips are useful for resolving a slow Mac in general.

No…. It will only take up very little space…… Slowing down the computer deals with RAM, The I chat effects runs mostly through your memory…….. BTW Where did you find those effects???
