- Olimar = Near
- Sonic = Mikami
- Pit = Matsuda
- Captain Falcon = aizawa
- Wolf = Ide

Quick fix for my “CHECK ENGINE” Light that is always on.

December 14th, 2009 admin 25 comments

UPDATE” FINALLY FIXED!
Stymied Ford Mechanics, plus spending money just to try stuff, without success, is frustrating,. And since the car ran fine most of the time, I decided to get this light out of my face and continue to march with my fix..

BUT, Since the car IS missing occasionally, and the codes state that, while in Littleton CO a Meinike dealer said the computer sees lean cylinders in the right rear two, and locks on a RICH injector, thus flooding those 2 rear cylinders.

He said it is caused by a leaking manifold or gasket, which there is a service bulletin on.

Price at Ford to Fix, Approx $1,900.

SO it turns out that this was all BULL. WHY?

*** Second UPDATE. FIXED!

A fellow subscriber wrote and told me to change the IAC
( Idle Air Control Valve).

It cost $69 from Dick at Sibley Auto parts here in town who also suggested it could be the EGR valve.
So I removed and plugged that vacuum line, and put the new IAC in.

Within 5 minutes the light turned out. Thanks so very kindly for that.

Thanks for watching.

Surgery on PS3 (YLOD fix)

October 14th, 2009 admin 25 comments

DISCLAIMER: This should not be attempted by you, or anyone else…EVER.

My PlayStation 3 gave me the Yellow Light of Death this week. Instead of paying Sony $150 to fix it, I decided to try to do it myself, following various online tutorials. I figured that even if it didn’t work, it would still be an interesting experience. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

The first attempt was unsuccessful. So I took it over to my computer-engineering buddy, Chris. He determined that I hadn’t applied enough thermal grease. This was causing the system to rapidly overheat, and the fan to freak out.

(At the end of this video, it actually wasn’t quite fixed yet. The BD-drive didn’t work. I had to open it up a few more times to fix the ribbon-cable connector.)

Works great now! Watched “WALL*E” on Blu-ray last night.

THERMAL COMPOUND: Purchased from my local Best Buy. I went to the computer area and asked for thermal grease. They showed me: “Dynex® – Silver Thermal Compound”
HEAT GUN: Purchased from my local Lowe’s ($24.98)
