- Description: nodeterm, a TypeScript tool trending on GitHub, runs parallel AI coding agents as draggable nodes on an infinite pan-and-zoom canvas.

eneskirca's nodeterm landed on GitHub's daily trending list with roughly 2,326 stars, adding 48 on the day of reporting [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com). The TypeScript tool targets a problem anyone running multiple AI coding agents knows: terminal tabs multiply, you lose track of which agent is waiting for input, and closing the wrong window kills a session mid-task. nodeterm replaces that mess with draggable nodes on an infinite pan-and-zoom canvas. Each node is a live terminal session you can arrange and monitor at a glance [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com).

**My read:** The spatial-canvas idea is sound and the tmux-backed persistence is the right architectural choice, but every feature claim here comes from the maintainer's own README, which nobody outside the project has verified. The star count is modest next to tools like [Herdr's terminal runtime for AI agents](https://www.notatechguy.com/herdr-terminal-runtime-keeps-ai-coding-agents-alive-45k-stars/), which sat at 45,000 stars a week ago. What I would watch is whether the hook-driven status detection actually works across all nine listed agents, or whether some integrations are stubs.

### How the canvas works

Each node runs in its own tmux session, the Unix terminal multiplexer that keeps processes alive in the background [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com). Quit the app or restart the machine, and every session comes back, according to the maintainers' description [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com). That persistence matters because AI coding agents can run for minutes or hours, and losing a session means restarting a task from scratch.

Status detection uses hooks rather than output scraping, the maintainers say, with pulsing "RUNNING" and "NEEDS YOU" badges on each node [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com).

Output scraping, reading the text an agent prints to guess its state, is fragile because agents change their formatting. Hooks intercept the agent's own lifecycle events directly, which is more reliable if the agent supports them. On a MacBook, agent status also appears in the screen notch [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com).

Every project doubles as a kanban board with draggable cards representing live sessions, according to the README [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com). The canvas runs as a desktop app on macOS and Linux, with a Windows beta, plus a self-hosted browser version the maintainers call Server Edition, backed by a headless Node server on your own machine [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com)[P²](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm/blob/main/docs/SERVER.md?ref=notatechguy.com). An iOS companion pairs via QR code and connects over an end-to-end encrypted relay, not limited to local network access [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com).

### Nine agents, one surface

The README lists support for Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, opencode, Grok, Cursor, and custom integrations [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com).

Listing nine agents does not confirm all are equally functional or maintained. The tool also includes on-device Whisper transcription that converts voice to text in the terminal prompt, with nothing auto-submitting until the user presses Enter [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com). The maintainers describe nodeterm as built for people with ADHD and scattered workflows, offering spatial layout instead of hidden tabs [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com). That framing echoes a broader shift in agent tooling toward managing many parallel sessions, as [Codync showed turning 40-plus agents into phone bots](https://www.notatechguy.com/codync-turns-40-ai-coding-agents-into-phone-bots/) and [NVIDIA's Agent Toolkit](https://www.notatechguy.com/nvidia-agent-toolkit-grounds-ai-agents-in-enterprise-data/) demonstrated for enterprise data grounding.

All feature descriptions come from the maintainer's README and have not been independently reviewed [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com). The Windows version is in beta [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com). Star counts and trending status are dynamic.

A developer running parallel Claude Code and Codex sessions could install nodeterm on macOS or Linux, drag two agent nodes onto the canvas, and check whether the "NEEDS YOU" badge fires when an agent requests input.

If the badge does not appear for a specific agent, that integration may be incomplete. Full documentation lives at nodeterm.dev/docs [S¹](https://github.com/eneskirca/nodeterm?ref=notatechguy.com).
